Best-selling used EV SUV: about $32,600 median asking ($26,500 for 2020 up to $39,000 for 2025). Biggest thing to check: the heat pump and climate system on 2020-2022 cars, plus the suspension and brake recalls. Prices are dealer asking prices from October 2026 listings, not sale prices, so expect to negotiate.

Our price ranges, rounded to $500:
Asking prices. A 2026 Model Y averages $48,981 on CarGurus, close to what comparable new trims cost, so a low-mileage 2026 'used' car is not a clear bargain; compare with a new-car quote. CarEdge's undated table runs about $1,000 to $4,000 below CarGurus, CarWhere and (for 2020) Recurrent; those three dated sources agree with each other.
Across all EVs: Geotab (about 22,700 EVs, 21 models; press release Jan 13 2026; blog Apr 28 2026): average battery degradation is 2.3% a year, up from 1.8% in Geotab's earlier study (Geotab's page dates that study 2023 in one place and 2024 in another). Cars that DC fast charge on under 12% of sessions lose 1.5% a year; over 12% lose 2.5% a year. Hot-climate cars lose about 0.4% a year more than mild-climate cars.
We could not confirm on Tesla's own documents whether the battery warranty transfers to a second owner, so confirm it by VIN with a dealer before you buy. The clock always runs from the car's original in-service date.
