Practical hatch-SUV: about $22,000 average asking ($17,000 for 2019-2022 up to $24,300 for 2024). Biggest thing to check: recall completion (the 2022 battery safety plug, the 2020 coolant-leak unit) and a battery health reading, since little public battery data exists. Prices are dealer asking prices from October 2026 listings, not sale prices, so expect to negotiate.

Single source for per-year prices; 2021 is an outlier. Medium-low confidence. Asking prices, not sale prices.
Across all EVs: Geotab (about 22,700 EVs, 21 models; press release Jan 13 2026; blog Apr 28 2026): average battery degradation is 2.3% a year, up from 1.8% in Geotab's earlier study (Geotab's page dates that study 2023 in one place and 2024 in another). Cars that DC fast charge on under 12% of sessions lose 1.5% a year; over 12% lose 2.5% a year. Hot-climate cars lose about 0.4% a year more than mild-climate cars.
Kia America's 2025MY EV Warranty and Consumer Information Manual (copy filed with NHTSA) gives the EV System warranty (electric motor, high voltage battery, EPCU, on-board charger) as 120 months/100,000 miles from the Date of First Service and says: 'Any remaining portion of any warranty, except the 120 months/100,000 miles Power Train (Original Owner) warranty, is fully transferable to subsequent owners.' So the remaining EV System term should pass to a second owner. That is the 2025MY EV manual; the Niro EV's own model-year manual was not opened, and Kia's U.S. warranty web page is silent on owners, so confirm by VIN.
| Campaign | What it is | Model years | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 24V358 | High voltage battery safety plug may overheat and melt; do not charge in a garage until replaced | 2022 | |
| 22V899 | Electric power control unit may leak coolant internally; loss of drive power | 2020 | |
| 25V426 | Rearview camera circuit board may be damaged so the image does not display | 2020-2022 | |
| 24V057 | A drive shaft may have been improperly heat-treated and break under load (loss of drive power) | 2023-2024 Niro EV (and 2023 EV6) | |
| 24V271 | Differential gear bolts may not be tightened properly (loss of drive power or lock-up); NHTSA lists only 8 vehicles | 2023 | |
| 25V024 | Floor wiring under the front passenger seat may be damaged, preventing air bags and seat belts from deploying properly | 2023-2025 Niro EV, Hybrid and PHEV |
Check any car by VIN at NHTSA's recall lookup and ask for the dealer work order, not just a "recall done" note.

We can connect you with a used-EV dealer that delivers nationwide. The request form is on this page (it needs JavaScript); tell us your budget, timeline and ZIP and a real person takes it from there.
If you ask us to connect you with a used-EV dealer, the dealer may pay us for the introduction. That never changes what we tell you about a car.
About $22,000 average asking price in October 2026 dealer listings. By model year: 2019-2020 $16,000 to $17,500; 2022 $17,000 to $18,000; 2023-2024 $21,500 to $24,500. These are asking prices, so expect to negotiate.
Recall completion (the 2022 battery safety plug, the 2020 coolant-leak unit) and a battery health reading, since little public battery data exists. Run the VIN for open recalls and get a battery health reading before you agree on a price.
Start with 24V358 (high voltage battery safety plug may overheat and melt; do not charge in a garage until replaced, 2022); 22V899 (electric power control unit may leak coolant internally; loss of drive power, 2020); 25V426 (rearview camera circuit board may be damaged so the image does not display, 2020-2022). Run the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls to see which apply to a specific car and ask for proof of the repair.
EPA-rated range runs from 239 miles (2019, the shortest-range version) to 253 miles (2023), depending on year and battery. An older car will have lost some capacity, so ask for a battery health reading.
