Used Ford Mustang Mach-E: prices, battery health and what to check

Roomy, quick, and getting cheaper: about $30,200 median asking ($23,000 for 2021 up to $32,000 for 2024). Biggest thing to check: the high voltage battery junction box (contactor) recall on 2021-2022 cars and the open rear-differential recall on 2021-2023. Prices are dealer asking prices from October 2026 listings, not sale prices, so expect to negotiate.

Battery health

Across all EVs: Geotab (about 22,700 EVs, 21 models; press release Jan 13 2026; blog Apr 28 2026): average battery degradation is 2.3% a year, up from 1.8% in Geotab's earlier study (Geotab's page dates that study 2023 in one place and 2024 in another). Cars that DC fast charge on under 12% of sessions lose 1.5% a year; over 12% lose 2.5% a year. Hot-climate cars lose about 0.4% a year more than mild-climate cars.

Warranty and whether it transfers

Ford's U.S. support page says buyers of a previously owned Ford are eligible for any remaining New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage and other warranties, based on the warranty start date and mileage; the clock does not reset. That page does not name the battery, so confirm remaining battery coverage by VIN with a Ford dealer.

What to check before you buy a used Ford Mustang Mach-E

  1. On 2021-2022 Extended Range and GT cars, get written proof the high voltage battery junction box was replaced, not just reflashed.
  2. Run the VIN: 26V417 (rear differential, 2021-2023) and 26V487 (rear quarter window trim, 2023-2025) have no final repair yet, and 26V582 (BECM software, a few cars) is expected in December 2026. Factor that into price or timing.
  3. Confirm the 12-volt door-latch recall (25V404) was done and test the 12-volt battery, since a low 12-volt can lock the doors.
  4. Ask whether the car ever received a replacement BECM (26V582 applies to 2023-2025 cars with one).
  5. Know the pack: Standard Range (LFP from 2023) vs Extended Range; California Route 1 and GT have the larger pack. Get a battery health reading.
  6. No heat pump before 2025: test cabin heat if you live in the cold, and expect about 77% of rated range at 32F.
  7. BlueCruise hands-free driving is a paid subscription after the trial; confirm it is active and whether it carries to you before counting on it.
