Maine rebates are income-only now: $7,000 new or $3,000 used for low income, $5,000/$2,000 for moderate. Get verified and buy the charger first. No EV fee.
The $7,500 federal new-EV credit and $4,000 used-EV credit ended September 30, 2025, and the federal home-charger credit (30C) followed on June 30, 2026. If anyone tells you otherwise, they're reading an old script. (Charger installed on or before June 30, 2026? That one's still claimable on that year's return. IRS Form 8911.)
Low-income tier: a household member on MaineCare, HEAP, SNAP or TANF. BEVs only (no PHEVs), purchase only (no leases). Get an Efficiency Maine income verification letter AND buy an off-peak charger BEFORE purchase; install it and connect it to Wi-Fi within 90 days. New: MSRP ≤$55k ($80k trucks/vans). Used: ≤$50k, model year 2020+, ≤72k miles.
AGI under $70k single / $100k joint, with an Efficiency Maine income verification letter. Same rules as above. Individuals must be income verified to get a rebate; there is no rebate for personal buyers above the moderate-income limit.

The charger is required, not included: you buy an off-peak charger through Efficiency Maine before the car and install it within 90 days at your own cost (installs average about $1,000, not counting the charger). Efficiency Maine's off-peak charger discount is $200 at checkout plus a $200 set-up bonus mailed after you activate the charger in the Emporia app.
