Illinois pays $2,000 ($4,000 low-income) on BEVs up to $80k, and the window is open Aug 1 to Dec 31, 2026. ComEd charger rebates return in 2027. EV fee $251/yr.
The $7,500 federal new-EV credit and $4,000 used-EV credit ended September 30, 2025, and the federal home-charger credit (30C) followed on June 30, 2026. If anyone tells you otherwise, they're reading an old script. (Charger installed on or before June 30, 2026? That one's still claimable on that year's return. IRS Form 8911.)
FY2027 cycle OPEN Aug 1 to Dec 31, 2026 ($14M funded). Application must be postmarked in the cycle and within 180 days of purchase. Income ≤500% of poverty line; new or used BEV ≤$80k from an Illinois dealer; no leases.

Registration is $151 base + $100 EV surcharge. The rebate window matters more than anything else here: the FY2027 cycle runs Aug 1 to Dec 31, 2026, and $4,000 low-income is one of the biggest remaining state checks in America. A bill to raise the EV surcharge to $320 from July 2027 (SB 3566) has sat in committee since Feb 2026.
